Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

I lie to my kids.

Last night it was HOT. John was going to miss dinner, I wasn't yet hungry but those swimming boys were STARVING. I couldn't bear to turn on any appliances and add to the temperatures climb! Then I had a little idea that worked out so well, I share it with YOU (just promise not to tell my kids)

Into the Vita-Mix (or regular blender) you toss the following:
banana-baby carrots-plain yogurt-frozen strawberries-flax meal-honeydew melon-milk-protein powder-splenda-and ice cubes. Then add a small scoop of this:

Stuff the melon rinds and carrot bag deep into the garbage and hide the yogurt and flax quickly back in the fridge. Leave the ice cream carton out in plain sight. When the children ask (and you know they will) casually say "yes-it's one of the special ingredients in my NEW recipe."
Don't pour it into glasses and call it a smoothie-they found out that is healthy and you know their tendencies to avoid unnecessary vitamin intake. Pour it into bowls and call it "Fruit Soup". Tell them all about your honeymoon cruise with their Dad, sipping cold fruit soup as a 7 course dinner appetizer in the steamy Bahamas (or you can tell your kids all about Miss Brenda's trip). I guarantee they won't even take a minute to dry off the pool water. They'll be slurping it up and asking for seconds and telling you it's the best dinner they've EVER had!!
