Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

to dye for

I found this wonderful Pottery Barn pillow at the thrift store. It was down filled, had pretty shell buttons and a quality linen fabric. Only downfall was the boring pastel lemon color. I'm not a pastel fan, at all. To me, pastels are colors that just don't try hard enough. But it was $2 for a $24.99 pillow, so I scooped it up and used it to soften the chaise on the back patio all summer. This week, I brought in...

I bought some dye (color:ecru) and mixed it all together on the stove with salt, for 20 minutes. Sam said "eww. What horrid soup is this?!" And then I got on the telephone and forgot to stir, and so the fabric came out all mottled but I decided I like it that way. The leather couch it sits on is pretty mottled, too. They both look like they've been through a few decades of hard use and been well loved. Which, as we all know, is exactly how I like my house to look.
