Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

Sunday miles.

I know, I know---it's Tuesday. I'm late!
But two people have asked this week if I am still running the Half Marathon and I realized I need to update! Yes. I am running it-after all this, to quit NOW? No way. I am so pumped to get down to San Fran and line up for that run that i can hardly focus on the day-to-day life that still needs living!

last weeks miles: 21.84
total mileage since June: 323.71
verse: "I would have you learn this great fact: That a life of doing right is the wisest life there is. If you live that kind of life, you'll not limp or stumble as you run." Proverbs 4:11-

I am now in the delightful time of training called "tapering". Seriously, I LOVE tapering. It means I need to get lots of sleep, drink my water and best of all? "save my legs" by not running more than 2-4 miles each day.
Running this much changes your perspective. Four months ago, to run three straight miles felt impossible.
Now, when it says "3 miles" on my training calendar, it feels like a free pass!

The Nike Womens Marathon is Sunday morning, Oct. 18, and we come back on Monday. John and I fly out of Portland on Oct 15, Friday morning, with the Team. We are so grateful for grandparents like Lee and Claudia, who are happy to watch the boys for the weekend.
On Tuesday I have a massage scheduled, (yay!) and then, after a few days of healing, I will strap my shoes back on. I look forward to running when I want to. My favorite four mile loop through our rural "neighborhood" now seems like a light run, and without the pressure of a looming race I hope to enjoy it occasionally, just a couple times a week. Two of the ladies on my team have mentioned us getting together for the occasional long Saturday run at our favorite trail, and that sounds good too. Nothing to stress about, and no fundraising or long miles REQUIRED. Just me and the curvy road, and the solitude of a morning run without pressure-bliss.

So, on the 20th of Oct or so, after the Long Celebration Blog Post (with optional blood blister photos), I will finally be free of training and you will finally be free of reading about my training!

...we can all celebrate that!

I vote for not posting the blister pictures! Congrats again!
