Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

new addition to the family

We are the happy owners of a German Shepherd puppy! She is ten weeks old and we just brought her home last night. John has decided we can have a dog (the boys prayed hard for
almost a year for Daddy to change his mind) and then Grandpa Del paid for her (purebreds aren't cheap!) as a combined Summer birthday gift for the three boys. "Boys ought to grow up with a dog" he keeps saying. and I totally agree Dad, Thanks!

It is VERY hard to get a picture of a moving puppy! I got lots of close-up black fur shots because as soon as I got down to her level for a shot she would run over to investigate.

Zuzu was not at all pleased about the new family member, in HER house. She spent the evening walking along the tops of all the furniture, keeping both eyes on the frisky intruder and hunching her back in warning at the slightest eye contact. The boys tried to remind her how she loved Sadie (our cocker spaniel who died last July) but she refuses to discuss it-that was Sadie, this is NOT.

No one has to remind Josiah that dogs are wonderful! This pup was the runt of the litter, and a real cuddler. Although her parents weighed in at 135 (dad) and 85 (mom) so she's going to cover that lap in no time!
We are so excited to have a guard dog/ deer chaser/property protector/running companion/friend to growing children in our family again!!

We are trying to agree on a name and have it narrowed down to two (once I eliminated all Star Wars/Lego/Lord of the Rings names!) so please comment and vote for your favorite:

Moxie (means spunk/pep/energy) or Lucy?

I vote for Moxie. Probably because our cat is Lucy and to transfer that name to a German Sheppard seems strange to me. BUt I love the name Lucy for a pet. So either way, you got a winner. How exciting. Have fun with her.

Other suggestions from our gang:
Matilda, Gretchen, Adalwolfa, Brunhilda, Gerdie, Mitzi, Nordika.

Can you tell Neil comes from German ancestry?

Beautiful puppy. I (Alisa) had a German Shepherd growing up. He was an awesome dog.

Have fun. We can't wait to come see her! Oh, and you guys!

I vote for neither. I like Wubzy. I think that would be awesome to have Wubzy and Zuzu. hee, hee, hee (I guess this doesn't seem like a good guard dog name, eh?)
