Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

Happy Valentine's Day

Caleb summed it up a moment ago..."Mom, I was wrong, Valentines IS a great holiday!"
This morning we had a party with our homeschool Moms group. There were over 40 children in attendance and they are all such sweet kids, not one problem in the hours spent playing, laughing and sharing together! When we got home there were Valentines from the Yakima grandparents in the mail for each boy, and with McDonalds gift cards enclosed-how did they know? (ha ha their grandkids said "fries" before they said "Mama"). I explained that all I wanted for a gift was the house tidied up and so my sweet sons promptly rushed around, putting away toys and laundry (ok, everyone say it together........aaaaahhhhh....!) So you see, I HAD to give them their gift a few hours early, paper hearts full of chocolate covered hyper-bombs (see above). To gild the lily, tonight a dear friend is watching them and John and I are going out on a rare date. I was whining a bit this morning about not knowing what to wear and John remarked "Honey, it doesn't matter. As long as it's you, and me, and prime rib-that's what's important." He didn't mean to be funny, he was serious. That, of course, is why it is so funny.
On an unrelated note, I will leave you with a funny Sam said this morning. The boys at our party had commandeered the wooden playset and were perched at the top of the fort, tossing pine cone bombs and practicing the masculine trait of domination. A pair of gentle girls complained to me that they couldn't get up the ladder to use the slide, the boys wouldn't let them up. I went over and gave the boys a gentle talk about sharing and my Sam, in a surge of fierce tenderness explained it wasn't SAFE for girls. I said well, make it safe to which he exclaimed "Mama, we CAN'T let them up here-it's not right, don't you know? War is a MANLY sport!!"
Happy Valentines Day from all of us!
