Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

first entry

We've moved! This blog is not nearly as beautiful as the other, but it will be a fun challenge to pretty this one up, eventually. The main reason for the new address is simply that HSB has outgrown its servers (or something else is wrong but that's John's guess). Log in problems were daily and it is hard enough in this busy life to get a minute spare to write, only to be unable to log on! I do wish I could save the previous posts...oh well, it was only a few weeks worth-better now than later. I'll write more often now that I have access, and make up for that loss soon enough!

So on to the weeks highlights! here they are, in no particular order:

1. Yesterday we went to a Creation Science Workshop, held through our Homeschool Co-op. It was VERY informative and the boys were thanking me over and over as we left (something every Mom/teacher loves-grateful students, wow!) Lots of info on fossils, dinosaurs, science, Bible and history. Here is a photo of Caleb and a T. Rex fossilized tooth. Probably the highlight of the week for us!
2. After making his PERFECT french toast breakfast, John took the boys to Open Gym at the Club today, and made them lunch at the Cafe. So we were all happy-Dad got to watch the tennis tournament, the boys got to play in the gymnastics center for hours and I had all afternoon to scrapbook...perfect saturday!
3. Had a spot of sunny weather on thursday-got 15 Heritage raspberry plants and 3 large blueberry bushes in the ground, with hopes for a large crop this summer. We are still working on a deer fence, but within the month, John assures me...
4. Josiah made some extra $$ this week. He gets $1.00 a wheelbarrow load (has to be FULL to count, I'm a strict employer!) to scrape out the chicken coop floor. 3 years of dirt/straw and glorious nitrogen (aka poop) spread on my raised garden beds. Hopefully its decomposed enough not to get salmonella on the broccoli, but if this blog gets real quiet around June....
5. I was going to mop on monday, then tuesday, then....
6. Sam found the can of orange silly string I hid from him last fall. I caved and let them blow it all over the side pasture (will the rain wash that goo away?!) Caleb draped it all over his head and came into the kitchen, announcing in a high falsetto "I am Cleopatra, here to view my pathetic subjects..."
7. John, Sam and Caleb all got haircuts. Didn't think my men could get more handsome but they somehow did!
8. I went to a new Thai restaurant with my friend F that was delicious...if you have a "Sweet Basil" near you, its a party for your mouth-spicy/hot/garlic/mint-whoa! After, we went to a Garden Compost Class. You know you are crossing a hobby/obsession line when you can spend 3 hours looking at slides of microrganisms and leave thinking "I need a 55 gal bucket-a pump-some pvc..." because you NEED to now brew your own "compost tea". My yard needs more amoebas and protozoa, TOO!
9. Don't try and sort 118,000 Legos by color. Trust me. Life is too short. You CAN take organizing your childs bedroom too far.
10. We mailed cookies to a neighbor who is fighting the war in Iraq. Caleb looked the cookies over, and asked shouldn't we make sure he wasn't dead first? No sense wasting good cookies...
(Being practical above all things isn't always a positive trait)

Just wanted to say hi at your new blog! We love Sweet Basil.... mmmmm. We try to go out on our anniversary date each month and Erik chooses that place more often than not! I love Thai food, and have to say that's some of my favorite.
See you tonight!

I just love reading your blog.
Caleb is cracking me up with his sense of humor/comments. I just had to say awwwww...that was so sweet about the note left from John to Josiah regarding the cribbage game. Whats new with Sam?
Keep up the great work!
Love you guys.....Sherri

A few things...in no particular order.
1. Compost tea probably tastes like poo.
2. Caitlin will be happy to eat all the blueberrys you could possibly plant.
3. Here's what you do when you are a strict employer employing family members. "Uh, I'm a little short this week, here's 30cents... I'll catch you next week."
