Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

food network fan base is getting younger...

Caleb loves to help in the kitchen. Well, all the boys do but Caleb is the first to grab his chef hat and apron (from Target-we bought it for his birthday and never let him know it was out of the Girl Toy Aisle) when he sees me starting food prep. We watch Food Network pretty regularly, because even with over 150 channels on, it's hard to find family-friendly programming. Pretty rare to see racy or inappropriate behavior on cooking shows (although that Rachel Ray? I don't buy her cheerleader facade. She throws that olive oil around a tad more provacatively than she needs too.) Anyway at 4 years old Caleb was saying "Bam!" with Emeril and we all race to watch Alton Brown, our favorite (lots of science lessons in there too). In this photo you can see him working hard slicing a cucumber. Pampered Chef makes a GREAT kid-friendly knife that is very safe and he loves using it. It's a little rough on the softer fruits and the edges are a tad mangled but when Caleb arranges them on a plate (always in a pattern) and sprinkles salt (needs help here, he likes his sodium) and serves it with a flourish of pride, well...
Paula Deen could not serve me anything that tasted better!
