Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

Mother's day

John and the kids really spoiled me today! I couldn't decide what I really wanted so John told me yesterday my gift was a LITERAL Mom's Day. Whatever my little heart desired, all day long and no electronics for he or the boys. "Even garden nurseries?!" YES. "Antique shops?!" OK. "A nature walk and bird watching?!" IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT. WooHoo!
So here is what we did:
Donuts for breakfast and early service church.
Barnes and Noble book store browsing until Olive Garden opened and then Eggplant Parmesan, breadsticks and salad. (no cooking ALL DAY or DISHES! yay!)
Scrapbook Store (they were closed, still it was so wonderful that he tried)
a bit of shopping, then a 4 pm stop at Sweet Life Bakery for a treat.
Stopped at my favorite garden nursery but they were closed (again, points for trying!)
Home and then the boys (all 4) tidied the house up and their Daddy did the dishes.
A nature walk around our loop...it's a little over a mile and so quiet and pretty. Josiah rode his bike. We all fed the neighbors Shetland ponies and noticed the spring-into-summer that is starting to bloom. Wild purple Siberian iris growing madly in all the ditches! Such an elegant flower to thrive in such a mucky spot. Clearly, the spiritual analogies you can make are too obvious for me to point out to such intelligent readers as I am blessed to have here.
A whole family bounce on the trampoline (it didn't snap!)
and now we are having buttered popcorn and sliced Fuji apples for dinner. We'll get our jammies on, get all the cozy blankets out and snuggle up to watch our Sunday faves-America's Favorite Videos and Extreme Home Makeover.
I love being the Mommy.
Besides salvation and John, it's what I thank Christ for the most. These three boys are about the funniest, smartest, cutest kids God ever made and helping them grow into men is the greatest job in the world.
You don't need to put any frosting on a cake that good, but today was pretty sweet...

Do I sense a little sarcasm in your posting? Haha. Happy Mother's Day!
