hopefully.
I haven't listed my Sunday miles in a few weeks so out of curiosity, I just added it up. My total miles run over the last three months?
ONE HUNDRED NINETY SEVEN MILES.
No way! Tomorrow mornings Asics hitting asphalt will bring me over 200! And how much of my thirty extra pounds have melted off, with all this activity?
Zip. Zero. Nada. Nothin'
It's embarrassing. I have wanted to wear a big sign stating "Really! It doesn't look like it, but I am training really hard!"
I have been super careful with my food intake, and when I have been unbalanced it's been on the side of eating too little, rather than too much. John will vouch for me. Tonight he said "It really is unfair. I have never seen anyone who eats healthier than you do."
So, yesterday I went to the Doctor, to follow up on some blood work taken a few weeks ago and she explained, finally, WHY. The blood test results show I have a serious case of hypothyroidism.
Isn't this every fat girl's dream? A chance to say "Oh, it's not my fault, it's a glandular problem." Yet here I am, with this issue and it's no joke.
Turns out it is very much hereditary, and if you are related to me via my Dad's side of the family? Go get checked out, pronto! Uncle Deacon told me yesterday that he, and Grandma, and Aunt Delane, and Aunt Delita, and even my Dad, have all been diagnosed with low thyroid and need to take medication. (This family needs to communicate better...what else is lurking in our DNA?!)
Anyway, if you want more info on this condition, or want to see if might have low thyroid, check this site out:

I am grateful for a little white pill, that my Dr. promised me will change my life, (in about two weeks.) I will keep running and eating right and hopefully this pill will help put me back on the road to health. It is weird to think that all my life, I will have to be medicated. Get yearly blood tests. Monitor my eating and exercise and watch for signs of physical imbalance. But I am grateful. I realize that people endure far, far worse than this, to be alive and healthy. I asked God for answers, and help, and He has been faithful to provide both!
On another note: My brother Brian started an eBay auction to raise money for the cancer fundraising. It is a carrot I grew in our garden here, and gave him, as a joke. It already has three bids-go take a look! You will see just how high brow our family's sense of humor, is.

I'm so glad the mystery is solved because frankly, I was going to be discouraged for you...my goodness, all the work you've been doing. Just doesn't seem right. Brilliant on the auction!
The carrot sold for $11.50!!!! Ha, ha, ha!
