Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

the baby of the family is nine.

Was this really almost TEN years ago?!

what I really miss:
-superman capes as everyday apparel
-sippy cups
-sincere but lisping "I yuv woo, Mama"

-chubby legs in a white onesie suit
-afternoon naptimes' sudden quiet
-2 or 3 wiggly boys on my lap to read to
-the total delight in little things, like playdough and bubbles and caterpillars
-the garbled "toddler talk" that only John or I could interpret

what I really don't miss:
-constantly sticky high chairs
-that last month of pregnancy

-midnight crying and teething
-baby hands pulling hard on earrings
-lugging a diaper bag everywhere

-buckling three wiggly boys into car seats
-paying for megapacks of diapers
-finding and getting six shoes on and tied before every outing
and on the days when the "Do miss" list gets longer than the "Don't miss" list? I cling to this comforting reminder:

"that for everything there is a season, and a time for every activity under heaven."
Ecclesiastes 3:1

There are a LOT of great things about small children! I know how much you must miss it. However, you forgot to put on the "don't miss list": ear splitting screams, changing #2, biting, pinching, tantrums in the grocery store, finding sippy cups that once had milk in them...my list could go on. I do want to say, lastly, that the hug (snuggle) that's meant only for Mommy, wipes the slate clean every time!
