Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

lego mania

As posted many times, our boys are Lego FREAKS. Mainly the 2 bookends, for Sammy-in-the-middle enjoys them but has stopped short of making them his life's purpose. Since we are planning a vacation to Legoland in February, Caleb suggested a family building contest. Once Mom and Dad agreed (Caleb, in his patient manner, calling Dad's cell phone 4x until he got the yes he needed) the boys spent all of yesterday, preparing.

It was their idea, their party and I didn't do anything! They set the party for "after dinner". They brought out Lego drawers to the Living Room and had baseplates set up around the coffee table (Caleb thanking me sweetly for being "nice" about using the broken one, and offering to help me since "its probably been 30 years for you, huh Mom?" umm. yeah. at least.

It was hilarious to hear the debates as they decided on the rules...no pre-building or planning ahead. Then they debated the categories for judging, with a lengthy and heated discussion between #2 and #3. It took #1 stepping in as mediator and explaining they were BOTH right, because Creativity and Originality are "close enough" to the same thing. Whew. Ok. we can move on now to the fun stuff: Prizes. 1st place-choosing from a Wish List (borrowed from the Chatter Matters board game) 2nd place-you choose the dessert one night. 3rd place-30 minutes of electronics.

Uncle Tommy is staying with us for awhile and was invited to jump in. More than an hour passed, with the three adults still happily digging for bricks and adding to their creations and the three boys sitting there, finished but waiting patiently. I was glad we had done this little activity
"for the children".

Loved this entry! Heh, heh, heh. I can always HEAR Caleb saying the quotes. I bet it was something to see. I can't even step in the boys' (Sam and Caleb's) room without fear or breaking my leg on legos. Okay, maybe not breaking my leg, but at least having that truly awful pain of a small object lodged firmly in the bottom of my tender foot. Heh, heh. It's just the type of room I would imagine for my little baby dude when he gets old enough to be into legos. Miss you guys!
