Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

night terrors

Uncle Deacon lives on the other side of the Cascades but still has business ties near the Ocean. We are blessed to be on his route to and fro and every few weeks we have his cheerful company overnight. Josiah is strangely excited about this, and gives up his bedroom happily for the adventure of sleeping on the couch. Well, last week the two littlest boys come rushing into Mom and Dad's room, in total panic. Talking at once, words tumbling out in terror we finally decipher the problem-BEARS. They are NOT imagining things. Both of them can hear the hot breath of hungry bears, the low rumble of those massive animals in our very yard. John can't hold back the laughter and leads them to Josiah's bedroom door...leaning in, they all listen closely...
...wow...I guess Dad is right...and Uncle Deacon's snore is the exact imitation of a blood-thirsty Grizzly bear.

Loved this entry! I can relate! Uncle Deacon has also stayed in my house and I can remember the rumbling snore, but luckily we weren't afraid of it. I sure wish we could hear his snore so often!
