Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

and baby makes six

at least for a few weeks!
We have good friends who have been called by God to foster parent. We don't have that calling (yet...) but John and I feel that fostering hurting kids is a LOT like missionary work. If you aren't personally called to go? Then by default, you are called to support those who are. So we are respite care providers, for that faithful family, and they are out of town until mid-March. So who gets blessed with an 8 month old baby girl? US! This male-dominated household is now full of pink. pink clothes. pink infant seat. pink bottles. pink blankets. pink cheeks. (my favorite)
Does this bother my little men? Not a bit. Look at them:
Since she is not our child, I am respecting her privacy by not showing you her face or telling you her name. But you can tell by Sam and Caleb's expressions here....she has an amazing smile! Caleb keeps shooting video movies of her. Since she likes to mimic, he grunts and coos to get the soundtrack.
I have figured out why infants were so much more time-consuming for me the first time around-I was doing it solo. Here's a tip for you first-timers. Try to have a couple older kids, first...they are SO handy! It's only been 2 days but things are going much smoother than I thought.
One-she sleeps through the night
Dos-she's not crawling or able to get into anything-she can scoot about 1 foot in her walker!
C. She naps every few hours
Quatro-she's got a very easy-going temperament
5.-I have three boys on standby, all rushing to play peek-a-boo, give a bottle, (anything except change a diaper)

So this is all quite (wonderful) difficult. I don't know how we'll (give her back) make it through the next few weeks. Being devoted to God and deeply loving our friends, we agreed to this (joy) hardship. And somehow (I get to put a dress on her!) we'll struggle on through the (short) long days ahead. Pray for us?!

because I don't even like babies. You can ask anybody.

She surrrrrrrrreeee doesn't. Too bad sarcasm sometimes is not reflected in writing. I think if anyone was meant to have octuplets, it was BJK.

God Bless you guys! I know what you are doing is so important to those families you help.

And it is true - babies/toddlers/preschoolers with older kids are so much easier! I was sick in bed a lot of yesterday - and the big kids took care of Traelyn. I got up and she and Kyle were taking a nap together - too cute.
Love you, Kippi
