Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

spring manicure

It was somewhat warm today so I got to play in the yard (ah! finally!). I was pulling weeds, deadheading and dividing perennials and singing loudly with my Ipod, for almost 6 hours...can you even believe my fingernails got this bad, with gloves on? And what a start to the season-I already broke 2 shovels! So I decided to create a "shovel graveyard" display in the corner of a flowerbed. Proof of the Willamette clay strength, my own stubborn will, and Home Depot's flimsy guarantees. Somewhere quiet, where the old, faithful iron heads can rest and rust, in peace.

I think the shovel graveyard is going to look great. You'd be proud of me. I pulled weeds in my flower bed next to the house (the new one) and let the bulbs coming up shine. It looks so nice. I need to get some perennials to fill in the gaps. Unfortunately I won't get to enjoy it this spring, unless we get in the house soon. But I will see it and smile every time I go to drop something off, or pick something up that is packed and I need. It also makes it look like someone lives there, to any would be robbers.

I think they look lovely. I've always sort of liked it when I have dirt ground in to my hands, and I suspect you might relate to that! I'm trying to figure out when and how I'm going to plant a garden this spring!
