Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young... a place near your altar, O Lord Almighty, my King and my God." Psalm 84:3

always reading

You can't read in the bath...books might get wet. Sam's creative. Solves the problem...the book is not in the tub!
Each of the boys have 2 6 foot tall bookshelves in their room, FULL. They read as they eat, spooning food distractedly into mouths while absorbed in fiction. (They learned it from my habits. When you sit-you read. Therefore sitting-eating-reading, go together. But strictly no books at dinner, that is for conversation and family!) The bathroom has a rule of no reading after 9 pm, for they quickly learned that bedtime could be delayed and reading time extended by "the bathroom excuse". Our old Suburban is a rolling Library. When we open the car door, paperbacks spill out onto the ground, and I finally just put in a laundry basket to contain the excess literature.

I am grateful for the St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores, that encourage our abundance by only charging .35 cents each for childrens books. I am grateful for Paperbackswap.com., a free site where you trade with others when finished. I am grateful for a little town of only 4000 people that supports a wonderful, kid-friendly library. I am grateful for sons who never learned that boys don't like reading. I am grateful for homeschooling which allows those extra hours to get lost in another world.
I am grateful that they are always reading.
