We went back to Walmart and studied the tanks. I promised to buy him another fish. So just how did Caleb end up with two Comet goldfish? Well, they are so cute-both my kid and those little swimmers. And the lingering guilt, that I may have contributed to the demise of Peanut by storing his net with my toxic cleaning supplies, well-that was a factor, yes. Plus they ARE only .28 cents each. Be warned, though-it's a suckers deal. The profit is made by selling you the 10 gallon tank, a filter, a light, plus bulbs! confetti rock, the water conditioner, special food, a new-uncontaminated-little green net, the deluxe neon castle to swim through...etc. (Those .28 cent fish actually cost around $53.77).
Caleb chose a white and red goldfish, and promptly named him Cashew. Then he saw a little orange fish with a long black stripe on his face. Caleb grinned and said "Beaver colors! To torture Dad." and you know I am all for inflicting misery on John, and especially when it only costs me 28 cents.
And so we had to bring home a buddy for Cashew and Caleb quickly dubbed him
-Pistachio.

Nice fish Caleb.
.28 cents to needle John a little bit sounds like a pretty good deal.
